Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth that can restore your smile, your ability to eat comfortably, and the natural shape of your face. At Didsbury Dental Lounge, we create custom-fitted dentures that look natural and feel secure.

We offer several types of dentures depending on your needs. Full dentures replace all the teeth in the upper or lower jaw and sit on the gums. Partial dentures fill the gaps where some natural teeth remain and are held in place with clasps or precision attachments. We also provide implant-retained dentures, which clip onto dental implants for added stability — particularly helpful if you find conventional dentures move around when eating or speaking.

Creating your dentures involves several appointments spread over a few weeks. First, we take detailed impressions of your mouth and measurements of your jaw. These are sent to a dental laboratory where your dentures are built to fit precisely. We will arrange a try-in appointment where you can see how they look before the final version is completed. Once ready, we fit the dentures and make any adjustments needed for comfort and a secure fit.

New dentures take a little time to get used to. Your mouth needs to adjust to the new shapes and your muscles need to learn to hold them in place. Eating soft foods and practising speaking out loud can help speed up the adjustment period. It is normal to need one or two follow-up appointments for minor tweaks. We encourage you to come back any time something does not feel right — getting the fit perfect is important to us.

Remove your dentures at night to give your gums a chance to rest. Clean them daily with a denture brush and soak them overnight in a denture cleaning solution. Continue to brush your gums and any remaining natural teeth. Bring your dentures to your regular check-ups at our Fallowfield practice so we can check the fit and condition — over time, the shape of your jaw can change, and dentures may need relining or replacing.
